Helping couples to find new hope, understanding and the feeling of togetherness
People come to see me when:
• they feel stuck in a pattern in their relationship that creates emotional distance
• there are trust issues
• they are recovering from affairs
• there is lack of intimacy and emotional closeness
• there are communication issues
• they feel a sense of loneliness
• they are dealing with separation
• there are life changes to do with work, loss, physical illness or mental health issues
My approach to working with couples is Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT). Emotionally Focused Therapy is a model developed in the 1980’s by Dr Sue Johnson and Dr Les Greenberg. It is an integrative model based on Systemic, Attachment theory and Experiential approach. EFT for couples is an empirically tested and research-based model of therapy that has shown excellent outcomes with couples of all backgrounds and different types of distress. This model is a structured model of 3 stages and 9 steps that has the highest success rate of any methods for helping couples – 70 to 73% of couples move from distress to closeness and 90% show significant improvement in their relationship.
It is a powerfully effective approach to reducing relationship distress, helping couples to create trust, intimacy and closeness.
I will share with you a video link where Sue Johnson explains what Emotionally Focused Therapy is:
