A secure base to grow
My approach to family therapy is Systemic and Attachment based. We are securely attached when we are able to remain accessible, available and involved. It’s knowing that we can rely on others and they will respond to us when we need them. From an attachment perspective the more securely attached our children are the more independent and confident they will become. As a Family Therapist I help families to explore the negative interactions that create insecure connections between family members. In sessions I assist families to re-structure those interactions, enabling youngers to receive protection, comfort and support from their parents.
Therapy works to restore family bonds that foster resilience in the younger generations.
As a clinician, I help families to build trust, security and to improve communication, by expressing emotions and understanding each other’s needs. Through the therapy process I aim to provide the skills to create long lasting changes that will remain reflected at home in the present and the future.
I help families when:
• children or adolescents present symptomatic or concerning behaviours
• there is constant fighting between parents and adolescents
• parents feel they need support in their parenting role
• there are family losses
• there are separations
• there are life-changing events and adjustments
